Ecological
assessments cover a broad range of services provided by Quest
Ecology, from wetland mapping to baseline floral and faunal inventories.
We have conducted ecological assessments in support of watershed
restoration plans, mine planning, species-specific habitat management
plans, and conservation land acquisitions.
Typically,
ecological assessments include an analysis and baseline documentation
of on-site wetlands, habitats, and land use types, as well as
an evaluation of the major vegetation community types, existing
conditions, cultural resources, site history, alterations and
disturbances.
The site’s
potential to support protected plant and animal species is evaluated,
and field surveys are conducted to verify presence or absence
of target species. The presence of nuisance or exotic species
as well as utilization by non-listed wildlife species is assessed
and management needs are identified. An evaluation of restoration
or mitigation opportunities and recommendations for future permitting,
site planning, land use and habitat management is typically provided
as a result of these investigations.
